Our company has two key lines of business:
- Converting foodwaste and greenwaste into products that benefit New
Zealand horticulture, agriculture, viticulture and pastoral businesses,
providing solutions for soil improvement and enhanced land productivity;
and
- Safely disposing of and recycling a range of inert wastes, such as plasterboard, bentonite, broken concrete, glass, demolition bricks, clay and clean (non-contaminated) soil.
Our current operations consist of a 40ha greenwaste and foodwaste composting site, which is New Zealand's largest consented composting facility, and a 16ha cleanfill area.
All of our facilities are designed to maximise recovery and reuse of resources and meet stringent environmental consent conditions. Despite the size of our operations, much of the Envirofert site remains available and is used for pastoral farming as well as undertaking field trials of our compost products.
Envirofert works closely with Environment Waikato and we understand that we are one of the highest compliance sites in the Waikato region. We accept only materials that will not damage the environment.
Our aim is to create a waste disposal, recycling and reuse operation that is in harmony with the rural farming environment in which we are located. To this end we have planted over 4,000 trees on the property.
Envirofert was the 2010 winner of the Ministry for the Environment Green Ribbon Awards "Managing our Waste", 2010 winner of the Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards "Excellence in Environmental Management" and the 2006 winner of the Franklin Business of the Year, Innovation in Agriculture and Environmental Awards.
